Mexico - Socorro
From Cabo San Lucas (Mexico), it takes some 24 hours of navigation through the rough Pacific ocean to reach the Revillagigedo archipelago, more conveniently called Socorro from the name of its main island.
This untouched inhabited eden is composed of four volcanic islands lost in the middle of nowhere that act as a powerful magnet attracting all the surrounding marine life. Here scuba divers often encounter several species of sharks, including hammerhead, but also dolphins, whales, orcas and oceanic mantas, the biggest of all rays.
Due to very rare human presence (only a few diving boats cruise in these waters) marine life is also less shy than in other places, thus offering a ton of good picture opportunities to underwater photographers.
